Maia Kinnebrew and Emre Discekici were awarded NSF Graduate Research Fellowships, while Allegra Latimer won the NDSEG Graduate Fellowship.  Congratulations Maia, Emre, and Allegra!

Maia Kinnebrew and Allegra Kinnebrew are undergraduate researchers in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Both will start graduate school at Stanford this coming Fall.

2nd Annual UCSB Chemistry Grad Student Symposium & Alumni Social

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry would like to invite all department alumni to attend the Second Annual Chemistry Graduate Student Symposium.  Following an introduction from the Department Chair, talks will open with presentations by two department-nominated graduate student keynote speakers and close with a specially selected alumni keynote speaker.  A wine and cheese social hour paired with a graduate student-hosted poster session will immediately follow.   Limited seating, RSVP early!

Congratulations to John Eickhoff, Zachary Rengert, Carol Tsai, and Kyle Young for their selection as recipients of the 2013 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) Fellowship. These students were selected based on their outstanding abilities and accomplishments, as well as their potential to contribute to strengthening the vitality of the US science and engineering enterprise.

Two chemistry faculty are recipients of ACS awards

Peter Ford and Craig Hawker are both recipients of 2013 American Chemical Society National Awards, to be presented at the next ACS Meeting in New Orleans in April.   Prof. Ford was awarded the  ACS Award for Distinguished Service in the Advancement of Inorganic Chemistry sponsored by Strem Chemicals.  Prof. Hawker was awarded the ACS Award in Polymer Chemistry  sponsored by ExxonMobil Chemical.  Congratulations to Peter and Craig!
