Bio

Sahid received his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree from the West Bengal State University, India, in 2014. He then joined the department of chemical sciences at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata, India as an Integrated Ph.D. (MS-PhD) student in the same year. During his MS, he mainly focused on the design and development of light-driven molecular switches. In 2022, he completed his Ph.D. thesis under the supervision of Prof. Subhajit Bandyopadhyay. Throughout his Ph.D. research, he was interested in the broad area of organic chemistry and supramolecular chemistry, including the design and synthesis of light-responsive materials (mainly azobenzene and dihydropyrene-based molecular switches) and π-conjugated functional building blocks(tetraphenylethylene and porphyrin-based).

He is currently pursuing his postdoctoral research in Prof. Christopher Bates and Prof. Javier Read de Alaniz’s group at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His research interest lies in the design and development of biodegradable polymers and polymer adhesives.
