Research: Bio-inspired energy-dispersive composites

I am very interested in learning about biological materials: how they are created, how they are used and the relationship between structure and function. I want to use this knowledge to design new materials that derive their properties from having bio-inspired structures. I am currently applying knowledgo of how nature builds energy-dispersive systems to synthesize materials that display sacrificial bonds, chemical gradients and interfacial properties of organic/polymeric-inorganic composites.
