Welcome to the Hayton group in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Our research focuses primarily on the coordination chemistry of uranium, where we are trying to synthesize uranium-ligand multiple bonds. Our other area of interest is the synthesis and study transition-metal nitrosyl cations. In both areas we try to isolate unique complexes and understand their fundamental properties and bonding.
