David completed his BS in chemistry at Eastern Illinois University before earning his Ph.D. at Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University. Dr. Zigler currently focuses on the photochemistry of ZnSe based Quantum Dots. He enjoys food, artisan beers and live comedy.

Dr. Zigler's interests have developed primarily from work in Inorganic and Organometallic Photochemistry. David searches for new interactions of known electronic excited states and exploiting new excited states and interstate dynamics for photochemical applications. He has an extensive background in second and third row d6-metals coordinated by aromatic polyazine ligands and studying their electronic excited states, interstate interactions and photochemical behavior.
