Vanadium bromoperoxidase enzymes

Vanadium haloperoxidases catalyze the oxidation of halides by hydrogen peroxide which results in the halogenation of certain organic substrates and the production of singlet oxygen. Vanadium bromoperoxidase (V-Br-PO) is isolated primarily from marine algae. We study the reactivities of V-Br-PO from different algae and functional model complexes to investigate the role of vanadium.
