Ruchita grew up in Vadodara (former Baroda) city of Gujarat, India also known as Sanskari Nagari, i.e. Cultured City which combines the characters of vibrant culture and a modern city. At the age of 18, She attended The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Gujarat, where she received her chemistry education and focused on organic chemistry studies in her masters during which she got exposure to the chemistry of Liquid crystalline molecules and study of their properties under the supervision of Prof. Ramnik C Tandel. At 2010, she joined Prof. Shailesh R Shah for doctoral thesis, and her research focused on supramolecular chemistry- based on designing and synthesis of C3symmetric compounds, which can be utilized as artificial colorimetric and fluorescent sensors, and also as building blocks in materials.

Fun facts

  • Being a Barodian she loves Garba a folk dance celebrated during the festival of Navratri in India
  • She enjoys to decorate home, cook & eat delicious food and be on her couch during her leisure time
  • She likes kayaking & jet ski
  • She found the love of her life during a poster presentation at her very first chemistry conference, a relationship grown from a weak Van der Waals forces of attraction to all the way to covalent bonding. Cheers to Chemistry!
