Josh grew up in the Midwest, specifically in the suburbs of Chicago. He ventured out to California to earn his B.S degree in chemistry from University of Redlands. He stayed in California to work on his M.S degree at University of California, Santa Barbara under the advisement of Dr. Bruce Lipshutz. Some projects he has worked on include protecting group chemistry and cross coupling reactions with a focus on micelle technology and green chemistry. During his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his dog, working out, playing tennis and being outdoors.
- Josh has worked with Guide Dogs for the Blind and has helped raised service animals for the disabled
- Josh has competed, nationally, for tennis as well as was ranked in the top 20 in the state of Illinois
- He is an avid fan of watching hockey and tennis
- Josh has been to the Galapagos Islands and learned his favorite animal is a sea lion
