Microscope Mass Spectrometer

The ?-Mass Specrometer combines the capabilities of the Molecular Beam Machine with the additional advantage of having high-spatial resolution through the use of a microscope and a controllable XYZ stage setup. This system affords vibronically resolved spectroscopy which allows differentiation of structurally similar organic molecules as well as fragment free mass spectrometry. The use of a reflecting objective allows a video camera to be placed along the same optical path as the desorption laser beam, allowing visualization, on a micron level, of the area being studied.
