Prof. Craig Hawker joins the Faculty of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry

Prof. Craig Hawker becomes the newest member of the faculty of the department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Professor Hawker comes to us from the IBM Almaden Research Center. Prior to that he was on the faculty at the University of Queensland. Prof. Hawkers work in polymer chemistry has garnered over thirty prizes and awards, most notably:

• The Cooperative Research Award of the American Chemical Society,
• The IBM Corporate Technical Recognition Award
• The Carl S. Marvel Award in Creative Polymer Science from the American Chemical Society
• and The Arthur K. Doolittle Award, American Chemical Society
• He is also this year’s winner of the
• American Chemical Socsity Award in Applied Polymer Science.

Prof. Hawker has also assumed the directorship of the Materials Research Laboratory at UCSB.
