Professor Gui Bazan named as fellow of AAAS
Guillermo C. Bazan, professor of chemistry and biochemistry, has been named a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science for his contributions to the design and realization of tandem catalysts for the production of polyolefins, and for the rational design of materials with desirable electro-optical properties. Dr. Bazan is one of 5 UCSB professors this so honored.
Prof. Guillermo Bazan named one of ten Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award Winners for 2005
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation grants approximately 10 Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Awards annually to young, top-flight scientists and scholars from abroad who are already recognized as outstanding researchers in their fields. The research award has been endowed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in recognition of their research achievements to date. In addition to a $55,000 Euro award, the award-winners are also invited to work on research projects of their own choice in cooperation with colleagues in Germany for periods of between six months and one year.
