*Note to students who weren't able to enroll: There is no waiting list for the 6A lab sections. I do not have any add codes for the course. The only way to get in a lab after the course is full is for someone to drop. The best method to get in is to attend lecture on the first Monday of classes, then crash a lab section that works for you. The TA's will take roll and determine who has dropped. They will then let in students based on the amount of space and circumstance of the student needing to take the course. Priority is given to Chem majors, then seniors that need the course to graduate, then it is up to the TA and usually just who gets in line first. If you have some other extenuating circumstances, feel free to email me and inquire.

This course will introduce you to the basic techniques employed in the organic chemistry laboratory. It is through these methods that so much in our world is possible; from medicines and foods to just about anything we purchase as consumers. You will learn to think and record data like a scientist by performing experiments and formulating reports in a lab notebook. You will make organic compounds and use modern spectroscopy techniques to indentify them. All it will take to be successful is a little attention to detail. |
