What: Amgen is a leading human therapeutics company in the biotechnology

Summer Internship Opportunities
Teach For America will run five separate training institutes this summer in Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, and Philadelphia. We are looking for outstanding undergraduates to serve as operations coordinators to help support our effort to manage and maintain a successful summer institute that serves approximately 500 corps members, 100 faculty and staff members, and a summer school program that serves over 1,000 students. While operations coordinators will not work directly with children, they will play an integral role in the daily operations of a progra m that trains new teachers. Chemistry Club Meeting
October 14th 1:00-2:30, 4606 PSBN
The Speaker this week will be Prof. de Vies from the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department. He will be talking about the application process for graduate school. This is a good opportunity to find out what graduate schools are looking for when admitting students. Lunch will be provided.

National Chemistry Week (October 16th-22nd)

Every year chem club members from UCSB join the student affiliate group from Westmont College at Paseo Nuevo to pass out ballons, frisbees, literature and conduct activities with children. Anyone who is interested in helping this year, please contact the chem club at chemclub@chem.ucsb.edu.

There will also be a toy drive during National Chemistry week for the children living near the gulf coast. There will be a donation box in the Biochemistry and Chemistry Department office, which is located in the breezeway of PSBN.

Start of the year BBQ
Friday, September 30, 2005. The BBQ will begin at noon and continue until all the food is gone. All undergraduate students interested in chemistry and biochemistry are welcome to attend.
