| The 200 MHz and 400 MHz spectrometers are available for use from 8:30 AM to 9 PM in 10, 20 or 30 minute increments on a walk-in basis. The sign-up sheets provide smooth operation when an instrument is in high demand. Long experiments may be run overnight and may continue past 8:30 AM provided that: 1) No one is signed up to use the instrument, 2) The user leaves a note with his/her location so he/she can be contacted if another user needs the instrument. Reservations are made using the Online Reservation System. The 500 MHz spectrometer is preferred for experiments requiring high sensitivity and for experiments that cannot be run on other instruments in the Facility. Time needed for lengthy experiments is generally reserved in advance. When not reserved, this instrument is available on a walk-in basis. Users are required to reserve time in advance by e-mail for special experiments, unstable samples, non-routine nuclei, etc. Time reserved but not used will be charged at the normal rate unless the instrument is used by someone else. Cryogen transfer to the magnets has priority over all user experiments. |
