Summer Graduate Student Internship Opportunity
ALZA Corporation, located in Mountain View, California is a leading developer and manufacturer of drug delivery-based pharmaceutical products with the broadest array of drug delivery technology platforms in the industry. Project Description: We are looking for qualified candidates of students working toward their Ph.D. degree as a summer intern to work in an exciting drug delivery R&D project at ALZA, Johnson & Johnson. In this project, interdisciplinary knowledge and skills spanning from chemistry, formulation and materials sciences to pharmaceutical sciences will be used to explore new technologies in the drug delivery frontiers.
Qualifications: Ph.D. Candidate with MS or BS degree in the areas of (organic) chemistry, biosciences, pharmaceutical sciences, material chemistry, material sciences and analytical chemistry will be desirable. Innovation and problem solving will be emphasized throughout the research. Good communication is required.
Start Date: Spring/Summer 2006

Gary Kravetz, founder and CEO of Santa Barbara Placement, asked me if I knew anyone who might be interested in an entry office position for a (local, I believe) company that sells chemicals. The company is looking to hire someone with a knowledge of (and probably a BS in) chem -- I do not know the salary range. They might be willing to hire someone well on their way to a degree. I do not know whether they would consider a part-time employee now that could become a full-time oneafter graduation, but it's a possibility.
